i am very interested in your furnace design... What refractory did you use? What type of burner? Did you support the refractory with re-bar? Very cool stuff my friend., glad to see you in protective gear for the brass melt. I had a sudo-explosion pouring into a sheet ingot mold that was too cold and had traces of moisture. Just when you think you've got it down... POW. (or more like POP POP POP POP) Luckily i had on good gear.

nice video i don't know anything about pouring metal yet which i want to do...but i sure WILL be wearing protective gear when I do it

Before pouring, I skim the junk off the top.
This floating scum is called "dross" and is the remains of paint, oil, dirt, or any other impurities that float. After removing the dross, the surface of the aluminum should look shiny, like mercury.
