  • No. bodyweight exercises are a great way to define this exercise. it is very helpful and safe, but it does not fit the description of a plyometric exercise. This is because while plyometric involves eccentric contractions followed by concentric ones, it also is supposed to activate the myotatic reflex. However, reflexes are involuntary. they are in response to a stimulus. but these exercises are under voluntary control. the reflex is overridden. they are simple bodyweight exercises only.

    Go old man rivers!

  • @dzydave0021 You don't need to use ankle weights or dumbell in plyometrics. The main goal of plyometrics is movement efficiency, reactive firing. Just practicing jump is plyometrics. Given speed/ acceleration is constant or neurologically genetic, you could just train in the weight room for mas. If you maintain or increase acceleration a little, you'll gonna jump higher gaining poundages of muscles
