Belfast is known around the world for it's 'peace walls' - high, fortified walls and fences built to protect vulnerable protestant communities from attack by Irish Nationalist gangs and IRA death squads.
There are over 40 of these walls in the city separating peaceful, protestant areas from catholic areas controlled by the IRA gang.
Throughout Northern Ireland's 'Troubles' hundreds of civilians were shot dead or had their homes set on fire by IRA death squads who trawled through protestant areas looking for an 'easy' victim.
This news report focuses on two such attacks when an innocent protestant was shot dead by the IRA and a number of protestant streets were attacked by Sinn Fein youth members in an attempt to drive them from their homes.
