@IshtarBellydancer Cool cane dance. It's really fun to watch.

@caitlinboo You aren't seriously trying to get legalistic with belly dancing? Since when is an art form limited in its expression?

Just because it has a saidi rhythm in the background doesn't mean it's meant for raks al assaya. Love this song, love the costume, and very cute presence... but misplaced.

I understand your view regarding this modern arabic pop song and modern Egyptian Assaya movements, of course it is a modern interpretation, and it is very well placed, seeing as this song is so popular in Egypt. While I was at the Ahlan Wa Salan fest in 2009, Dina and Raqia were a couple of teachers who used modern Arabic Pop and some Modern Egyptian combinations, it is the style today. This is not folkloric style, but Cabaret/Oriental.

also if a Saidi rhythm is in a song of course it lends itself to Raks Assaya, Saiidi is Raks Assaya from Upper Egypt, when a Oriental Routine is playing and it changes to Saiidi, than it is time to do Saiidi movements with or without Cane.
