The Phoenix Group (www.phoenixgp.com) went on location with Canon Explorer of Light Vincent Laforet to Los Angeles to create a Canon Shooter's Insight Documentary and 7 educational episodes. Tune in and find out how Vincent used the new Canon EOS-1D Mark IV to create a spec spot for VW.

One of the advantages of an EOS HD-SLR production is the variety of over 60 EF lenses. See Canon Explorer of Light Vincent Laforet's techniques with EF lenses to create unique video looks.

The Phoenix Group used Canon DSLR systems to create these episodes for Canon to showcase this new technology.

  • @lmvideo93 we know more about standard vid production cameras than DSLR. DSLR can only do so much. Inconvenient for reality based productions. GH2 better but still has shortcomings compared to vid prod camera

  • @lmvideo93 I am not employed in the industry. I own a TV production business with a pro director. We know what we are doing

  • @lmvideo93 because 35mm vid from still camera has DOF too strong. Focus puller's nightmare. I do more reality based stuff for TV and have no need for shallow DOF, and the 4/3 is better and the 14-140 lens is optimized for vid. The gh2 is optimized for vid

My 5D will do wide shots and extreme DOF when required

  • @lmvideo93 ok lol thanks. I'm thinking of getting two gh2s to compliment my 5D

  • @StereoBreedMedia AH OK thanks!

  • @alanbstard4 1d KILLS the 5d mark ii in low light capability. thats a videographers dream camera for low light

  • why are you using 1D's for motion pic? They have the same vid capability as the 5D, but are more expensive due to the features only a pro still photographer would require, such as the 10 fpm continual firing

Could it be you do still as well as motion and require the still features of the 1D?

  • Toland, Young, Storaro, Nykvist, Hall, Zsigmond, Almendros, Deakins, Wexler, Kovacs, Surtees, Willis, and now, Laforet? Not even close...
