Salve Maria!

This is so beautiful. It's like it's speaking to my very soul.

@PeriodinstrumentfaN I hve Goebel's version, and his guardian angel is a very vigorous one, not to mention almost awe-inspiring. This guardian angel is a very tender, loving being. But I love them both.

This piece is in no way inferior to Bach's chaconne in D minor. Three guesses who was the more original composer of the two...

Ararara, I don't mean to be captious (so many on Youtube forums are) but I do enjoy when someone writes something interesting and informative, so I'll give it a shot:
First, check out Reinhardt Goebel's...WOW, it was the last recording he did before his hand gave out
Second, they are called the Mystery Sonatas because in ecclesiastical tradition the rotating focuses of the rosary are also called "mysteries" - not cause it sounds mysterious

Many thanks for uploading this (boy Manze's rendition is so higher up compared to all the rest!). This is mysticism of the purest degree. Bach means mathematical beauty, Biber means mystical beauty.

Same here... he introduced me to many obscure baroque composers... :>

absolutely you are right, many of composers I didn't know about them. However, I wish that you listened to Corelli Violin Sonatas, Op.5
