Community of Tipton 4th Annual 'Fourth of July Block Party Celebration' July 4, 2010-7:30p.m. Tipton Memorial Building
============================================================
The Community of Tipton held it's Annual 'Fourth of July Block Party Celebration' on July 4th at the Tipton Memorial building. The event kick-off with a fundraiser BBQ, offering hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and sodas, provided by the Tipton Volunteer Fire Dept, with all proceeds going to the volunteers for use in future department purchases. The Tulare County Sheriff's Department VIP unit (Volunteers-In-Patrol) and the Tulare County Fire Department(Tipton station) were in attendance with their patrol vehicles and provided their fire prevention and security services for our 45-50 guests. The Memorial building parking lot received a patriotic-themed makeover, decorated with American flags, red-white-blue paper lanterns and lights, and lined with prime seating for that perfect view of the nights fireworks. Patriotic and dance music filled the air, while the crowd danced to songs including 'Cotton-eyed Joe', 'Chicken Dance', and 'Watermelon Crawl'. As the sun set for the night, sights, sounds, and smoke filled the air as fireworks began their purpose of the night. Aerials outlined the parking lot, as the 2010 4th of July committee members( Chris Adkins, Paula Maestaz, and Ryan Toledo) set off the approximately 75 ground show fireworks provided by the committee. Intermissions every 10 minutes gave the chance for lined-up children waiting anxiously to have their sparklers-in-hand lighted and provided time for the fire dept to distribute raffle items( including a BBQ, candles, homemade salsa, and the like). The years event had guests in attendance from around the country, including former Tiptonites from the state of South Dakota, and many first time and returning local guests. As the finale fireworks fizzled out, and the event wrapped up, each guest, without direction, politely began putting away chairs and taking down decorations out of the kindness of the hearts-a great sight to see. Guests leaving one by one, family by family, once again were reminding themselves that they were glad to have been a part of another successful event for Tipton. Special thanks to the Tipton Memorial building for providing a safe location for the community to set off their fireworks; the Tipton Fire Dept( Captain Steinway, Lt. Ezaki, Lt. Newton, FF Chris Adkins, FF Singh, FF Rodreguez for providing a great BBQ dinner fundraiser, a raffle for our guests & bringing out their Fire engine; The Tulare County Sheriff's Dept V.I.P. unit(Orlando Toledo) for bringing a patrol unit down and providing the night's security; Sister Pati Reinhart for representing Tipton Community Council & Proyecto de Rosas; Phyllis Hudaleston for representing Tipton American Legions Auxiliary Post and everyone who joined us for a night of patriotic fun and fireworks, especially all the volunteers who helped out and gave us a chance to provide the community with another successful 4th of July.
