Wonderfully informative and interesting overview of this important icon. It seems odd, though, that such atavistic music was chosen to be background to these still-arresting and highly abstract images. A more analagous choice might be more appealing. Carter, Bazelon, or Wourinen come to mind. I'd usually prefer to hear no music to something inappropriate. I had the same reaction to the soundtrack of the Ed Harris Pollock film, which would have gone better with a film about Penrod Centurion.

Albert Kotin belonged to the early generation of New York School Abstract Expressionist Artists whose artistic innovation by the 1950s had been recognized across the Atlantic including Paris. New York School Abstract Expressionism represented by Jackson Pollock, Willem De Kooning, Franz Kline and others became the leading art movement of the postwar era.
