25 December 2006 Little Baby Gabriel 1st Christmas Part Two

Little Baby Gabriel opens both his precious eyes for us for his 1st Xmas that we shared together even despite he wasn't feeling well. He was being taken off ECMO 26 Dec 2006 & he was on reduction now from 375 to 200. His other meds had been redcuced too like his high blood pressure medicine & his pain medicine. The 19th Dec, his 2nd operation had given us a horrible scare as though his operation to take out a blood clot out of his left collapsed, non-working lung was successful, but later that night, Poor Little Gabriel bled too much from his 3 drain tubes, so they had to reclamp it off, & reblodclot the area. Dr.s can't figure out where the bleeding is coming from.. He had lost alot of blood, so Dr.'s had to recycle his blood while filtering as well as give him more. Unfortunately, later that night, the bleeding wouldn't stop so the Dr's had to reclamp it off & reblodclot his lung in another attempt to save his life making the operation null & void. Gabe has now had 2 major operations & many failed attempts to get him off ECMO & CVVH. Time was running short for beloved Little Gabriel but the very next day on the 26th of December, we would have nothing short of a miracle when Gabriel was not only able to get off ECMO but CVVH as well, his high blood pressure medicine, & was able to be maintained on a mere ventilator!! He would stay on paralytic medicine for the next 3 days to keep him calm & some morphine but other than that, Little Gabriel was fighting strong & the Angels, Saints & Blesseds were most certainly interceding for him & Jesus was hearing!! Hello 1992Peter, yes Gabe was on ECMO in this video. The first 3 days of his life, we didn't get to meet him because he was so critical. When they helicoptered him to Boston in a emergency attempt to save his life on his 3rd day, we finally got to meet him. It was there, I took all pictures & videos of him. Thank u 4 your prayers, God heard them & placed him in his loving arms with love, peace & comfort. We do take comfort in that even tho our arms & heart ache 4 him. Many Sweet Blessings~Rose

Thank You everyone for all your loving supportive comments! I apologize for not writing sooner but my computer died just after we lost our precious Little Angel Baby Gabriel (18 Nov 2006- 12 Jan 2007) after he fought so courageously for his life for 55 days. He rests in the loving arms of sweet Jesus now as our arms and heart ache for him. We take comfort that he is in our loving father's arms and is not suffering. Gabriel- Guardian of GOD .... this video breaks my heart.. but God does not like to see his little ones suffer... be sure that God is looking over him and his angels are sorrounding him protecting him. Im so very sorry you lost little Gabriel. I was an ECMO Specialist for years and looking into the babies eyes always touched my heart. We try to be professional and upbeat for the parents, but I cant tell you the number of times Ive had to hide my tears. Gabe had a beautiful soul. Thank you for sharing his story.

CVVH is Continuous venovenous hemofiltration. Its similar to dialysis, used to treat kidney failure.

ECMO is Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, heart-lung bypass that takes over most of the work of the heart and lungs so that the baby can heal. In AV ECMO,(in very basic terms), the blood is removed through an arterial cannula in the neck. Oxygen is added, CO2 removed, its heated and sent back to the heart through a different venous cannula in the neck.
