America and England/other parts of the world have different rating types. EG: Most countries in Europe, Australia and England use the RON rating, and America uses the AKI rating. They are both slightly different measurements of different characteristics of the fuels burning qualities. 87AKI=91RON, so for example, regular in Australia (91ron) is the same as 87 in the US.

@smashysmashy fuel additives are junks....i use xylene mixed with marvel mystery oil instead it will up ur octane by 3+

@uniflare We have 87,89,93. Never seen 95 at a pump, that would be considered racing fuel here.

Most high perforemance cars use knock detectors so you can run regular if you need to.

Doesn't it say 'Premium Fuel Recommended'? You can still run regular then, you just loose maybe 1-2mpg and 5-10hp. Cars are so smart that they pull timing when fuel is lower octane from reading engine noise from the knock sensors. You can usually get midgrade for the same price as regular, that's what I use in my car that recommends premium.

@smashysmashy fuel additives only raise octane by a couple points. and a point is one TENTH of an octane step. so an $8 bottle of octane booster that promises a three point gain will only raise 87 octane to 87.3 for example
