Although this Missouri native is fondly remembered in Hollywood as the crown prince of stunt men, David Sharpe had the charm and good looks of a movie star. He suavely led his charges in the Hal Roach series "The Boyfriends," featuring Grady Sutton and Mickey Daniels. His screen credits number in the hundreds, both as actor and as stunt man. He easily took falls for heavily insured stars such as Tim Holt, Tyrone Power, Douglas Fairbanks Sr. and Jr., Tony Curtis and Marlon Brando. In real life, he married one of his Hal Roach Studios co-stars Gertrude Messinger (1911-1995). Considering how risky and demanding his work was, it is remarkable that he lived to be 70 years old. Sadly, he died in 1980, of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease. "

Heaven only knows. And yes, he worked for Hal Roach studios in the early 1930s, that's why I added music from Roach films.

He was incredibly handsome. He reminds me of Dick Jones (Buffalo Bill, Jr), who had a "spry young" body, gorgeous hair, and a face that was impossible to turn away from - the eyes!!!!

Same incidental music as Laurel and Hardy so I assume this was a production of Hal Roach Studios.
