@DLeeGriff The original song was in Japanese and was titled Ue o muite aruko, recorded by Kyu Sakamoto in 1964. When it was released in English-speaking regions, they (the powers that be) wanted a shorter name that was easy for those who didn't speak Japanese to remember. So they called it Sukiyaki, which is a "hot pot" dish.
