The full space flight from the music video for 'Edgar' by Lucky Elephant.

Read about how we did it here!

***

The robot and rig reached a height of over 95,000 feet (around 30,000 metres) above earth to film the blackness of space and the curvature of the earth, before the pressure popped the weather balloon and a parachute carried it back down to earth. We then found the robot and camera in a field 11 miles away using a mini GPS tracker.

As seen in a nationwide TV commericial for GoPro, on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, a CNN video report, screens accros the London Underground and more.

The 2 and a half hour flight was filmed on a GoPro HD Hero camera.

  • Question: What camera housing did you use; the waterproof one or the one with holes on the back? And, did you have to use any condensation absorbent inside the GoPro housing? As I understand it during the ascend there will be a slight pressure build up inside a waterproof housing which will be compensated by the low tempreature when reaching higher air. I can not se any build up of condensation inside the housing though. Any comments on this, anybody? /Tille, TeamM

  • @TilleTeamM No housing and no condensation absorbent - just the naked GoPro. Full kit list in the blog link in the description.

  • wow 11 miles away thats not that far for been up there so far up

  • @zeroocool101 one thing is air preassure, the other thing is gravity. air preassure has nothing to do with bringing the robot back to earth, except for exploting the balloon. thanks to gravity we can go round the sun and not in a straight line into deep space, the same with the moon around earth.

  • @Qrorpl IT IS 95000 ft your looking a Coppola 10000
