AIG HAWAII TO BECOME FARMERS INSURANCE HAWAII IN JANUARY 2010

AIG Hawaii Insurance Company, Inc. unveiled today that it would be changing its name to Farmers Insurance Hawaii, Inc. heralding in a new chapter in the company's nearly 55-year history and reflecting its new ownership under national insurer Farmers Insurance Group, which purchased the company in July 2009. The company will officially begin doing business as Farmers Insurance Hawaii on Jan. 1, 2010.

"Theres been a lot of excitement as we begin final preparations to become Farmers Insurance Hawaii," said Robin Campaniano, president and CEO of AIG Hawaii. "Our customers will still receive the same outstanding service, affordable products, and ohana spirit theyve come to expect from us, with the added financial strength of Farmers Insurance. Through this transition we are emerging as an even stronger company."

AIG Hawaii remains committed to its customers and Hawaii operations, maintaining all of its Hawaii-based services and ensuring that all of its branches statewide will remain open and fully staffed to serve customers' needs. "Continuing to provide a high level of service to customers and looking out for the well-being of our employees was our top priority through this transition," said Campaniano. "Our intent was to create a smooth, seamless transition for everyone involved."

Farmers Insurance Group is currently the third-largest personal lines insurer in the nation, with more than 15 million customers and more than $16.7 billion in gross written premium as of June 2009. The company also has a financial strength rating of "A" by Standard and Poor's and A.M. Best.

Farmers Insurance Group also allowed its newest member company to retain "Hawaii" in its name making Farmers Insurance Hawaii the only Farmers member company in the nation to have a state designation in its name and logo. "I think it really speaks to the trust and confidence they have in us," said Campaniano. "Farmers Insurance understands that Hawaii is a unique market, and that our history in the islands and local values will truly differentiate us from other companies."

Farmers also recognizes the high level of community and non-profit support by AIG Hawaii statewide, and will continue to support the company's charitable efforts, service programs and employee volunteerism. "For years, our company has prided itself in instilling positive values and the importance of giving back in all of our employees," noted Campaniano. "Whether it's through providing outstanding service to our customers or supporting organizations making a difference in our community, as we become Farmers Insurance Hawaii, we remain committed to supporting the people of Hawaii whenever possible."
