Olga was ROBBED!

Daring and riskiness makes difficulty. The Korbut flip is banned not only because you can not stand on the high bar but because of the high risk of a concussion and head injury if you under or over rotate it. It is a blind release move which adds to its difficulty so yes I would say its an E because if you look at release moves that are D's is it much more difficult then them.

0:05 This move is impressive.

She should have gotten a 9.9 like she did in the event finals which would have given her the AA gold.

Olga was so much better.
Too bad the judges didnt know how to accept her 'circus tricks'
I personally think she's one of the best and most original gymnasts in the whole olympic history.
Just a shame she never got the 10 that she deserved. And Nadia Comaneci took it in her place.

I question whether the Korbut Flip on Bars would be an E. It was an amazingly difficult trick for its day. By 1978 when I was in high school there were at least 3 High School girls in Oregon doing the move. This makes me suspect that the move was more about daring & flexibility than difficulty.

These were the best days of gymnastics, the best performers. These were the moves I aspired to as a kid in gymnastics class. After Dobre and Silivas in the '80's the sport lost my interest. The modern uneven bars routines are more like mens' high bar routines. There is too little artistic grace and too many girlish types vying for attention. It would be neat for artistic gymnastics to return to performers like Janz, Tourischeva, Comaneci.

Actually, Karin was about the only one at the time who really could compare to Olga as far as both difficulty and originality were concerned. I myself would've given the edge to Olga for having a tougher dismount. What so many of us forget, though, is that the judges in those days were a far more conservative bunch who did not neccessarily appreciate Olga's brand of "circus tricks" as they were then often called.
