Older than Ellis Island, The Lazaretto Quarantine Station in Tinicum/Essington, PA. Created during the Yellow Fever epidemic, this is the place where immigrants were quarantined. There was also a Small Pox hospital on the grounds. There's a cemetery on the corner of the grounds, now mostly occupied by a sprawling fire station and ballroom. The only historical place I've ever visited where I had a rather jarring, possible, "paranormal" experience, and the only historical place that I'm not sure I'd go back to alone.
For the first 50 people who donate $50:00 or greater, by postmarks, there will be a investigation of the Lazaretto on Oct 16th. 2010 from 6 PM until 12 midnight as a way of saying thank you. You will be led on the investigation by the members of The PAST.
