  • @xxxAlphaxxx5 Rett Syndrome girls and Autistic children have a tendancy to have an oral fixation, meaning they seek the physical sensation of something in their mouth. Many will just put their hands in their mouth but this can cause some major skin problems and breakdown alond with accidental illness. Some are attached to their pacifier for the same reason. Others like this little girl seek foreign objects if they are denied their hands. It has nothing to do with food issues or the like.

  • Mainly it effects motor skills and the ability to interpret senses (like touch). So pretty much, it hinders speech, walking, any ability to communicate, eating, dressing, bathrooming... etc etc.
