I read on Peej's site that their working on a follow up album to Dance Hall at Louse Point supposed to be out the end of this year.Hope so..I loved that album.
I know John from a long way back. He used to be my music teacher at college. We recorded some stuff together. He's a very accomplished musician, big on the south-west uk scene. Always an inspiration to be in the studio with. Used to love the percussion days.... old soy sauce tins scavenged from the local chinese takeaway have a wonderful sound when used to build a rythym section.
This is a cover of Lee Hazlewood's song 'Pray Them Bars Away'. To answer your question, John Parish has released three records apart from 'Dance Hall At Louse Point': 'Rosie' (original soundtrack from a film), 'How Animals Move' and 'Once Upon A Little Time'. They're all really worth checking out.
He's worked a lot with PJ. He's co-produced her records and contributed to her albums in the form of guitar parts and percussions. He also played guitar in her band for quite a while. I remember reading about a band called Automatic Dlamini which was his own band. He is reported to have been involved in a lot of projects but that was the only one I could recall.
Nice song. Look at the gals he's playing with... He's not much of a showman though, it's like he's swallowed a fucking barge pole :) Don't get me wrong, I respect the guy ( he played with PJ Harvey for fuck's sake!!
John is really spindly, haven't thought about that before
