from ntdtv: A new milk safety scandal has broken out in China. Authorities in Shanghai have closed a dairy company and arrested three executives, after milk products were found to contain high levels of the toxic industrial chemical melamine. According to the state-run Shanghai Daily, melamine was found in milk powder and condensed milk made by the Shanghai Panda Dairy Co. Ltd. Melamine is a toxic chemical used for making plastic. When added to food it can make the protein content appear higher, but its highly detrimental to human health.

  • It's a shame to live in a country so corrupt you can't trust the content of your food.

Oh, wait a minute, that's in our country too.

Genetically modified, feces and nonfood additives. Look at your bread's ingredients - if it contains cellulose that's the same as recycled newspaper.

  • great opportunity to import milk powder from other countries such as Europe and India and N.America.

  • China has no conscience if it comes to health-care.They use Ve-tsin as if it is baking flower, MSG is killing all of humanity now because of them introducing that shit to the world, causing obesity and lots and lots of different diseases. The same with this melamine stuff, it is a great way to increase the human population. All a part of a much bigger scam, a hidden agenda the fucking governments have to create a one world order. It's nothing new, just very sad for those who are dealing with it.

  • 0:12 "Milk Power." That would have made a stronger advertising campaign here in the U.S. than "It does a body good..."

  • Okay,so why is there no American food company willing to publicly pledge to use only American made ingredients? This would be HUGE. Think of the market share to be gained if Americans could buy a product with confidence and , at the same time, boost our own failing economy.

  • This again? I thought one day we would see it again this year but damn.

  • @mrzack888, I wish that were true, but all people care about anymore is the cheapest product possible. The U.S. imports most of our wheat gluten, for example, even though we are one of the largest wheat producers in the world. Why? It's cheaper to import it from corrupt Chinese companies than to make it ourselves. Why? They take a cheap product and add melamine to fool the tests. China has already been caught doing this with soy, rice protein, wheat gluten, milk products, baking powder.

  • @DirkChesterfieldEsq, also bad is that many countries, including the U.S., import ingredients from China that are tainted with melamine.

In 2007 the U.S. imported food grade wheat gluten tainted with melamine from China. It killed thousands of pets across the U.S. - the scary part is that it was the same wheat gluten the U.S. imports for human food.

The U.S. imports most of our wheat gluten that goes in U.S. made food products even though we are one of the largest wheat producers. Sad!

  • India doesn't have a strict product regulation.
