So the Ninja 250 will hold 70MPH and stay steady. I drive a honda elite 250 scooter, and its time to upgrade to a real motorcycle. This is the bike im going to get to travel around north texas, so it needs to be able to run at 70-75MPH for afew hours, can it?

It can although it will rev very high and doesn't feel all that safe only because you won't have great "getaway" power if someone is riding your ass....if you are considering Kawasaki let me suggest either a Ninja 650r that is a good learner bike you won't outgrow (6300.00) or if you are a taller guy you might try a KLR650 for a little dual sport fun if you like to hit the gravel and dirt roads once in awhile(5300.00)
I never rode a day in my life before buying 250 and outgrew it in 6 months

....otherwise if you don't care to have a little extra power then yes for the money (3000.00) it's a fantastic bike to play on and you'll get by just fine on the highway.

It definitely can...the highway is not problem however with a top speed of 100 it doesn't have a lot of "getaway" power if you have someone on your butt. I kept mine for about 6 months and stepped up to a Ninja 650 and couldn't be happier.
