Good question. I asked Nathan Stone, and he said that sometimes the hook can pick up a small charge, especially in wet weather or in operations near power lines. And sometimes the man on the ground can get a small shock. One way to alleviate that is for him to wrap one end of an extension cord around his hand and the other around his foot, sending the shock straight into the ground.
The contractor working here -- BTN of Oregon -- is one of many harvesting operations. You can look them up on the Web to see where they're working and when. A bigger pool to fish would be the Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association. Better hurry -- just a couple of weeks left.
doesnt Static electricity play a role in those slings?
