Generally, when it doesn't have too many frills, changes of tempi and isn't overly expressive people say that the interpretation is masculine. "Handsome" I suppose means that it sounds good.
This piece in particular is very difficult to play. I've tried it myself. I could get through the first part, but admit got quite lost when doing the hands crossover. You need a great deal of anticipation, thinking quite far ahead of the game on this one. And yes, his playing is quite incredible. He must be one of the best Scarlatti players in the business.
