The Kentucky subspecies of the arrow darter, Etheostoma sagitta spilotum, if found only in the Kentucky River drainages of eastern Kentucky....right in the heart of coal country. This beautiful (and relatively large) darter lives primarily in small first and second order streams....many small enough to hop over! Habitat destruction and pollution have led to the disappearance of this fish from much of its former range. CFI is now spawning arrow darters in hopes of developing techniques for propagating this rare fish for possible reintroduction into recovered streams within its range.
im One of these in MFK XD

Great work. I've been trying to spawn captive darter species as well. Hopefully I can do it one day.
