The Virtual Window concept has been expanded to deal with any number of screens. In this demo 4 screens are placed each pointing in a different direction, yet, from the observers point of view the perspective connects.

The concept has been developed by Dinther Product Design and is perfectly suited for game and simulation environments.

  • i want to play wow with that set up!

  • immersion is NOT absolute, the display breaks where the windows end. MY idea is better

  • That is AWESOME!

I wish i had setup like that for 3d modelling!

  • expanded screen

  • This would have real-world application for 2 areas: Professional simulation such as flight training (A flight sim with this technology would immerse pilots a lot more, especially with the hydraulics and force feedback they currently use) as well as the Individual Entertainment area, with fully immersive games (think Mech Warrior with this setup!) and multi-camera movies.

You could also "fold" the display the other way, create a cube and walk around it...

  • You know commercially speaking it wouldn't take much to make a FPS and stick the player in a room of these screens with head tracking goggles an omni-directional floor and thereby create the first Holodeck mark 1

  • Are you finished with the "Holodeck" yet

Mr Spock?, you've been in there for 3 hours!, there are other people on the Enterprise you know!...Feckin' selfish git...

  • Very good!
