Semaine "Première Guerre Mondiale"
"Poilu" est le surnom donné aux soldats français pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. Ce surnom fut donné du fait des conditions de vie des soldats dans les tranchées. Ils laissaient pousser barbe et moustache et, de retour à l'arrière, paraissaient tous « poilus ».
Cette chanson a été reprise en 1969 par Les Parisiennes

Poilu is a warmly informal term for a French World War I infantryman, meaning, literally, hairy one. It's like the nickname "Tommies" for the English soldiers.
