nice chase

Us, of course. The train was moving no greater than 55 mph on this little journey. The only times he got ahead of us, were when we stopped for oncoming trains. :)

Who won?!?!!?!?!

It was on the road atlas I was using on this trip. Being from Ohio, there may not be a town called Peck, but the road atlas showed a place called Peck. It was the DeLorme Nebraska Atlas and Gazeteer.

I have a question, does that bell only ring at crossings, and is it activated when they use the horn?

The bell is used through Quiet Zones, at Grade Crossings, and in some yard movements. It is activated on most units, by blowing the horn, although you can activate it separately.

when i worked there they averaged a train every 6 minutes going one of thre directions out of north platte. east or west and then the coal buckets going up the branch to morril. my favorite is the yoder sub between egbert, wy. and kiowa, ne. one one train at a time can be out there besides the local. there is one siding thats maybe 4000 feet long in the middle at yoder. it great on that 4 mile stretch in the canyon jut south of yoder. to bad there isnt very may roads thru there...

Sounds neat! On this trip, I only managed to see the Kearney Sub. I was in awe about that! I've never seen so many trains at one time before!!
