Today at Etrailer.com we are going to be working on this 2005 Ford Freestar Limited Edition. We are going to be installing part number 87107 from Hidden Hitch and this also applies to part number 75158 from Draw-Tite. Underneath the vehicle we are going to locate the mounting points for our hitch on the passenger side of the vehicle. They are going to be up on the side of the unit body frame in the existing holes. These holes are going to be also located on the driver side but on the passenger side we are actually going to have to drill a third hole towards the front of the vehicle and once our hitch is in position you can see where we are going to need to drill out that hole. First we are going to remove the exhaust hanger from the rear of the vehicle to help give us more room to put our hitch over the top of it. It would probably help if you had a lubricant on there to help ease the bracket off. 00:52

Now we are going to install our hardware on the rearmost attaching points. We are just going to put in the hardware with our hands while we push with in the rest of our hardware. After our hardware is in we are going to use a conical tooth washer and nut to keep our hitch in position. Now we are going to fish wire the rest of our hardware. We are going to take our fish wire and run it through the hole. Then we are going to put our block on and run our carriage bolt on our fish wire. We are going to do the exact same thing for this hardware on the driver side of the vehicle. Now that we have our hardware loosely in position we are going to drill out the third hole on the passenger side. We are going to start off using a 1/ 4 inch drill bit and work our way up to the 1/ 2 inch drill bit. 01:32

Now that we have got our third attachment point drilled out we are going to fish wire the remaining hardware through the hole. We are just going to stick our fish wire in our drilled out hole. We are going to pull it out the opening. Then put the block over the fish wire and thread on the carriage bolt. On this particular carriage bolt we are going to thread on the lock washer and nut. Now that all of our hardware is in position we are going to tighten them down and torque them as specified in the instructions. Now that our hitch is installed and torqued down we are going to install our exhaust back on our hanger. Now we are going to take a couple of measurements for you. From the center of the hitch pin hole it is going to be approximately 2-1/ 2 inches. Then we are going to measure from the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground and that is going to be approximately 13-1/ 2 inches. That will complete the install for this 2005 Ford Freestar with part number 87107.
