By request, a widescreen re-issue of my greatest Youtube hit. I got rid of the effect on the earlier vid and boosted the colors and sharpness a bit. The original vid was recorded with a webcam so this is probably the best this vid can look like anyway. It has always been my best viewed vid. It was very hard to get this stuff down, especially over the original recordings, so a new take in HD does not really sound that appealing to me ....

  • yesssss!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ButeraAlessandro There's one in my list already Allessandro.

  • As usual, another really enjoyable download. I love Bird!

Dick, would you mind if I asked you a simple question. I am a classical player of many decades who took up jazz only a couple of years back. I'm pretty good with modes and scales etc, but I would appreciate it if you could recommend any books to improve my solos. I tend to get stuck in the same old groves.

    Many thanks, and best wishes.

  • @petebass2 No problem Pete. I love Joe Pass' material (Joe Pass Guitar Style and Joe Pass on Guitar. A good licks book would be Les Wise's Bebop Bible. For transcribed jazz guitar solos Wolf Marshall is a good choice. Or Charlie Parker on Guitar by Mark Voelpel for Bird transcriptions.

  • Hi Dick,

Any chance of getting your first clip of 'Blue and Green' back on? ... really enjoyed the way you played on that one. i think you posted 2 I but thought the first one was the best of the two.

    Thanks, Brian

  • @picchaz Can't fond it anymore. I'll check out the archives Pichhaz.

  • @dutchbopper I just want to add my vote on the Les Wise book. It would take a lifetime to internalize all the licks, and they are for the common chords and chord progressions as well. Probably one of my most used books as well as the other ones you recommended. All great books with very good value for the money! "Guitar Style" aids in sight reading skills as well at the same time as one develops vocabulary.

  • awwwww, you cut out the funny face at the end.

  • COOL! So good, thank you!

  • Got the Joe Pass Guitar Style book as you suggested and have worked through it. It was excellent with the last section being a great way of improving one's melody to the chords used. Thanks again DIck.

  • Wow!! Fantastic playing! Your right there with the bird! Did you get all the transcriptions from Mark Voelpel?

  • Thank you Dick. Changing styles (from classicial) is not that easy. A stroke messed up the original playing, although things are fine now, but it did force me to finally try and sort some jazz playing out. I try to learn from everyone and get pretty pissed off with certain 'purist critics' I see on the web. Same with classical. If it doesn't suit their prejudices they think it's valueless.

Always look forward to your videos. My very best wishes.
