    Damn shame what happened to him, i loved him oh so much and have seen every movie he was in. i sort of had a River movie night. this was a good film, but I feel his best work was done in the outstanding Stand By Me<3

    Rest in peace, River. He was meant to play Jim in The Basketball Diaries. Phenomenal movie, but it would have been even more amazing with you. The world has lost a truly beautiful person. My heart aches for you.

    I don't know when filming for this started, but Stand by me started in 1984 I think. So he was 13-14 then.
