So glad they got rid of the point differential process. No point in running up the scores in blow out games.

No, it's still the same. This was a very rare time when it came down to it

Wow. Thank you so much for uploading this! I was in high school in Wisconsin at the time and I just sort of stopped watching football after the Broncos beat the Packers in the Super Bowl and the wind was taken out of us the following season. I never realized a unique situation like this was happening. I was like, who cares if they just barely make the playoffs. Favre will just blow it in the end! lol We're so spoiled by Aaron Rodgers now. Anyways, great vid!

Not sure at all but I do know for fact that the tiebreaker rules were different back then and point differential was much higher on the list, so that might have had something to with it.

I know that much. However, why would Green Bay have gone instead of Carolina? Carolina beat Green bay earlier that season, so why would they not have had the tiebreaker over them? That is what I am confused about.

The Cowboys beat the Giants, so Dallas ended up going to the playoffs as a WC. If the Giants would have won, Green Bay would have made the playoffs...

wasn't just those two, four teams tied at 8-8. and it wouldve only come in play if the giants beat dallas later that day
