Umineko is easily on the same level of gore with Higurashi but I'd say instead of being on a level of disturbing imagery, it's actual 'horror' rather than the 'thriller' feel of Higurashi.

@ShiiUsagi you do she one of the characters from Higurashi no naku koro ni plus i think theres a reference to it but this is its own show with no real connection to it

As far as one story having anything to do with the other, not that I know of. New setting, new characters, new story, similar themes.

It'd be so weird if all of these characters were the Higurashi characters great grandma and grandpas, and the one that resembles Takano lost her powers, and now wants them from Oyashiro-sama, while Rika still has hers, they're just faded. o.o...

Has my source been wrong? I thought this one was set in 1986, but now I'm beginning to have doubts. The characters' style of dress is more like 1896, isn't it.
