Hey Arnold is a 9 year old Saddlebred gelding who has been shown successfully in the ASB Hunter classes on the competitive Ohio circuit. This video is from the recent River Ridge Charity Horse Show where he gave three strong performances; this was also only his fifth show ever! Last season he gave impressive performances to win two big classes at the Ohio State Fair in only his third show. He has had some training with jumping fences measuring up to 2 feet and he absolutely loved it! Let him win for you! Contact Ray Blanton at 614-582-9775 for more information on this special horse!

  • Is he still available? Thanks

  • @mmully5 Hi I am sorry I just saw this comment! As of right now he is still available! If you would like any more info on him please feel free to contact me via email at klucas.1@osu.edu (the best way to reach me). Again, sorry for the delay!

  • I don't know much about Saddlebreds, I'm a hunter/jumper girl, but compared to the other horse in the ring his head didn't really look much higher. At the beginning he perhaps looked more tense, but seemed to relax by the end. He had a nice walk-canter transition, even though he was counter bent. But again, that may be your guys' way of doing things, just not my cup of tea. Not usually a big fan of Saddlebreds but I must say your guy is absolutely gorgeous! I adore his coloring.

  • @showjumpinluv Thanks!! Arnie is a great example of a Saddlebred that shows great versatility while maintaining his show horse presence

  • hallmark3134, You were a little harsh: RackOn wasn't entirely incorrect: Given, the horse IS GREEN and obviously a little tense. He's handsome and his canter is lovely. But, as he is, put a full bridle & cutback saddle on him, and he wouldn't look out of place in a B-show country pleasure class. As an ASB hunter, (and yes, I show ASBs) a bit more relaxed headcarriage and a slower, more open stride at the trot would improve the presentation. He does have great potential. Congratulations.

  • Are you a professor or a student at OSU? I just graduated from there :)

  • RackOn241 ~ I respectfully submit that you must know nothing about Saddlebred hunters...this horse has the potential to be THE top Saddlebred hunt horse in the country. And truthfully, if you think he belongs in country pleasure...I have to question your knowledge of that division as well.

  • Furthermore, I have received numerous compliments on this horse from both Saddlbred hunter trainers/exhibitors as well as "real" hunter trainers/exhibitors. He was never shown in country pleasure, except in driving just to get him in the ring as a four year old. Also, as noted, this was only his fifth show ever, so he is still very green. Thank you, however, for your concern. If you have any other questions/comments on this horse, feel free to email me at: klucas.1@osu.edu.

  • @RackOn241

I will acknowledge that at the show where this video was taken he was particularly more fired up than normal, thus his higher head set. However, his neck is arched and his nose is perpendicular to the ground; yes it should be a little lower, but not much as this was still a Saddlebred Hunter class. He also shows great extension in both the trot and canter, so I am not sure what you mean by "he does not use his legs properly;" his extension is obvious in one of the still pictures.

  • Your horse is good looking, but unsuitable for the division. He does not carry himself in the correct frame nor does his use his legs properly. He may not have been successful in country pleasure, but until the way he moves is corrected that is where he belongs.
