Geoffrey Robertson's speech at "Protest the Pope".
I apologise for the bad quality of the video, but behing behind the stage that was the best I could do. Still the words by Robertson are well worth listening to. A ten minutes speach after the march in central London on Saturday Sep 18th. He highlights why the Vatican is not a state but a NGO, and explains why the current pope is responsible for crimes against humanity for the cover up of the children abuse scandals that is touching the Roman Catholic church

  • Wait, isn't Geoffrey an Aussie? We need a PM at the moment.....

  • Much as he's an admirable lawyer and an excellent writer, his style of delivery is reminiscent of Lord Haw Haw

  • @Jerrymanda101 Sounds like your an advocate of criminal cover up.It matters not how many books Ratzinger has published. What matters is his involvement in the systematic and continual deliberate evasion of responsibility for sexual abuse against children.

  • is geoffrey robertson an atheist? or just a lawyer doing his job?

  • @MusicPredominates, Sorry but you're still sounding a bit nutty. You might want to lay off the conspiracy theories, it's all a bit too Dan Brownish to be taken seriously. You might also want to read some of the books written by Cardinal Ratzinger/Pope Benedict and published by Ignatius Press. Ratzinger/Benedict comes across as a gentle and faith filled man well versed in religious and secular knowledge.

  • @MusicPredominates now you're just sounding nutty, a trait Protestant Fundamentalists and Athiests have in common. But back to Geoffrey Robertson's accusation that Pope Benedict has demonised Gays - he hasn't and Robertson is deliberately lying when he accuses Benedict of doing so. Robertson was just trying to be controversial to get publicity for his book, which many Gays rushed out and bought in order to justify their own hatred for the Church. Robertson time it all very well don't you think?

  • @MusicPredominates

It's only interesting to the extent that Geoffery Robertson seems detached from reality. But he did have a newly written book that needed publicity didn't he.

  • Demonising Gays? Liar

What Pope Benedict (Ratzinger) said to the Bishops of the world in 1985:

It is deplorable that homosexual persons have been and are the object of violent malice in speech or in action. Such treatment deserves condemnation from the Church's pastors wherever it occurs. It reveals a kind of disregard for others which endangers the most fundamental principles of a healthy society. The intrinsic dignity of each person must always be respected in word, in action and in law.
