lui era un genio! Non c'è un album migliore di Lacy, ci sono perle sparse nel tempo come big stuff nell'album Ten di Gil Evans, e ancora i suoi lavori come the straight horn, evidence, disposability, flakes, the way, trikles e tante altre meraviglie...sino allo stupendo work qualche anno prima di morire. Mi ha fatto piacere vedere queste immagini e ricordarlo.

I remember I went to Grace Cathedral church in San Francisco to see Steve Lacy and Jackie McLean play; One of the best things ever. Then fortunate enough to have played with Lacy in Minnesota not long before he passed. I raced home to get my flute when I knew I was playing with him. He was a great cat and a pleasure to converse with. Same with bad-ass Jean-Jacques Avenel, my favorite bass player. What's he up to? Best Lacy album is The Window.
