This is one of the most famous of all traditional Hebrew songs "Hevenu Shalom Alechem" - performed on the ancient Jewish Kinnor Lyre...last played by my Levite ancestors in the Temple of Jerusalem. After almost 2000 years of silence since the destruction of the Temple by the Romans under under Titus in 70AD,the amazing sounds of the ancient Kinnor Lyre can now be heard once again...in my spare room,Salford,Lancashire!;o)

In this upload, I have experimented in different lyre playing techniques, using a combination of plectrum & finger plucked strings...as King David himself may well have been inspired to do, 3000 years ago...

The transiteration/translation from Hebrew is as follows:

Hevenu Shalom Aleychem,
Hevenu Shalom Aleychem,
Hevenu Shalom Aleychem,
Hevenu Shalom, Shalom, Shalom Aleychem

"This is my hope & my prayer,
Let there be peace everywhere,
Let there be joy for all to share,
So let us praise The L-rd and live a happy life."

  • Nice job! As for your recording, don't worry yourself to death over it -- you're about pushing the envelope of how much you can do with what you have as it is. Just record the thing already and get it into the hands of your adoring fans. :)

  • Thanks! The increasingly ever elusive FINAL final master disc of my album is tantilizingly close...all 22 tracks have been recorded(after being re-recorded about 22 times each!) - all I need to do next week, is to trim all the unwanted sub bass...the studio mics dutifully picked up the somewhat unsubtle "humpback whale-like" rumble of a few lorries reversing into the adjacent car park during my last session - if ONLY humbucking pickups had been around in King David's time!!;o)

  • Pretty good. Thank you for all your videos as I've been perusing several of your videos. You get right down to play and no talking which is GREAT as some others love to hear their own voices. But nut you don't do that and you're very good.

I'm of Sephardic decent and was wondering if you could assist with music search. Thank you for your endeavors. HaShalom aleichem.
