Pakistan's many trade unions and worker organizations commemorated Labour Day this year on May 1. Rallies were taken out in all major cities of Pakistan and seminars were held to honour the memory of the 1886 Haymarket Massacre martyrs. One such rally was organised in Lahore that is depicted in this very first slideshow to be uploaded on this channel.

CMKP1970 is extremely thankful to Comrade Younas Chowdhry for contributing these pictures and proudly presents the very first contribution to this channel.

Comrade Younas described the event in his own words. "CMKP participated in full force at the rally organized by Pakistan Workers Confederation at Mall Road Lahore with some 300 workers from the industrial slums of Lahore. Students, teachers and lawyers were also among the CMKP contingent. Not to mention Laal theatre. We had a pickup truck mounted with loud speakers on which comrades from Laal and CMKP chanted slogans till the very end and sang revolutionary songs. CMKP's morale was unparalleled in the entire march." Laal theatre is a cultural offshoot of the CMKP. To learn more about Laal Theatre visit their official Facebook page:

Wondering who the young speaker in the red dress is? "As for the girl, she is comrade Fareeha. She is a student from a working class background, a party member and a Laal Theatre actor. She is playing her role in the street theatre performance."

The leaders utilised the occasion to raise awareness on the plight of Pakistan's working classes and other issues affecting them. Secretary General CMKP Comrade Taimur Rahman also addressed the rally. "The speeches included the enforcement of the ILO conventions and of labor laws. The slogans included 'Inquilab Zindabad' (Long Live the Revolution), 'Socialism avay avay'(Socialism is coming), 'surkh hai surkh hai Asia surkh hai' (Its red, its red. Asia is red) and surkhay agayai maidan mai haijamalo' (The Reds Have Arrived)".

The background music is the Urdu version of the Internationale rendered by the Laal pop group. It is the copyrighted property of Fire Records and Laal and has been used with the latter's permission.

  • The funny thing to me is how the first people to be executed after the consolidation of power are the idealists and the true believers of Marxist doctrine. Then the capitalist swine have a firm hold on a nation and a monopoly they can never have anywhere else but in a communist country. They pave the way for the rape of the people and the pillaging of a nation by the Rockefellers, JP Morgans, GE, and the complete control of the globe by international finance. Good job COMRADES. Well done LOL
