  • Hello ladies, thank you for this great recipe. My son and I loved it and once i make it we cannot stop eating till it is all finished. Since the first time i made it my son keeps asking me to make it regularly. I have a question though, when you say 1 cup of chana dal is it approximately 1.5-2 dl? It would be great to have an exact measurement. Thanks for your video clips they are very well done and the recipes are great. Keep up the good work.

  • @aisakaykure : Pardon our ignorance, but what is 'dl'?

  • @ShowMeTheCurry

DL or dl is the short form for deciliter.1 dl = 10 cl = 100 ml (for liquids)

For solids for example, 1dl sugar is approximately 65 gram if i am not mistaken. I live in Sweden and the recipes almost always use dl.

  • @aisakaykure: I thought as much but did want to clarify - it is not a measurement we use here. 1 cup of Channa Dal is approx 200-210gm. I hope you can convert it :)

  • This was the recipe I was looking for, I think this is the best recipe of khaman on You Tube so far, you girls are doing a great job. I love all your recipes and like the way you use less oil and make it healthy. I want to make khaman for my diwali party of 30 guests, do I just double/triple the quantity and can I make this one day before and temper it on the day of the party? What would be on your diwali menu? Just need some ideas:) Do not know what to cook this year.

  • @shahrukhdiwani1 : Yes, you can double and triple this recipe and it works well to make a big batch of it. Seasoning on the day of serving/party is the best as it gives the dish (khamman) a fresh flavor and can we say anything less about the aroma that is going to fill your kitchen ?

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Thanks for your reply. Happy Diwali to you both and your families.

  • covering the lid with towel is great tip. I made khaman so many times but water drips from the lid on the khaman and make them soggy. i tied a cheese cloth and it was wonderful. my khaman turned out dry and fluffier. thanks for the tip!
