The Paintings of Garazo Church in Crete

A few miles inland from the North coast of Crete, half way between Rethymno and Heraklion is the village of Garazo. Within the village is a large modern church which would not warrant a second look from most people driving by - however within the church the priest and his son are seven years into a ten year project to cover the walls with paintings depicting all the major saints and religious events. I believe the name of the church to be Saint Kiriaki but have doubts about the spelling. To find the church leave the New National road at Panormo and travel south to Perema. From there head east through Dafnedes and Mourtzana on the Old National Road. Garazo sits 1 km south of this road on the way to Anogia.
