  • He looks like jordan rudess with a wig!

  • Blitzbok and mgdth502 you guys should just exchange emails and bitch at each others in private because frankly, no one wants to read it.

  • @Blitzbok Theory is a written way to explain how music works. It is a definition. Theory is not MUSIC. Jesus, dude, air was still air before someone decided to give it a name! It is a tool. And you have to be kidding! There are plenty of successful guitar players who write without looking to what theory says. Maybe not by a jazz standard or classical composer standard, but you'd have to be an idiot to pursue a career in either of those and neglect music study, also, I'm not talking about jazz.

  • @mgdth502 If you didn't find it useful then you really are ignorant. Theory IS music. They are one and the same. Stay in your box if you like; it's your loss. Get over yourself. There is no example of a person that follows your prescribed path of note anywhere in the world. End of story.

  • @mgdth502 You still don't get it. People like YOU are the one's that are degrading the quality of music. You do not understand what you are playing, have no scope for progression and stagnate. But low and behold the next generation of guitarists will end up exactly the same as you. ALL the best musicians out there know music well. Name one 'musician' that is untrained that can match ANY composer, John Williams, Danny Elfman, or well trained Jazz guitarist.

  • @Blitzbok Much like this conversation has become repetitious...

That way of thinking is so reliant and dependent on the theory and the rules of music and shows such a lack of confidence and validation in yourself as a musician out of your own drive or want to do it. Like a newborn baby that needs everything done for it because it might die if neglected.

You want to hear repetition? Listen to all the new tech-death metal that's been so big lately and trends in music now.

    That's not what I do.

  • @Blitzbok Get over the whole, "if you don't want to study it, you're just ignorant" bullshit. Theory is not a big fucking deal.

I've explored it and didn't find anything incredibly useful. Like I said to the other guys who keep responding to me. Drop it. I'm so sick of talking about this.

Your estimation of the creative capabilities someone possesses without being a theory nut is severely flawed. Get over it.

  • Bekker was the better technically, but Friedman was always the better musician of the two.

  • @mgdth502 Without exploring theory you will inevitably become repetitious. This fact has stood the test of time as those less trained theoretically only produce a small body of work without repeating themselves. Your estimation of proper music education is severely flawed. Much like how rap artists loath grammar; their ghetto talk actually limits their ability to express themselves. No music education amounts to the same thing. It's very much a big deal!

  • @Blitzbok * so many guitarists are substandard
