A song about the Battle of Pelannor from the Return of the King, part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Lyrics:
Mount your horses, bear your arms,
Protect your family from harm
We ride today to save this land
Bodies strewn across the sand
I hope my boys will never see
The price of this great victory
Five hundred men all cut down
Bodies strewn across the ground
Kings are dying all around
Men are crying to the sound
The Witch-King makes to frighten me
Fight for my land and I'll fight for thee.
But at least my wife is safe
-ly locked up in the homeplace
My children wrapped up in their beds
So many bodies, so many dead
I will try to hold my ground
Protect this country, protect this town
'Cause I won't raised a cowardly man
Bodies strewn across the sand
Men are dying all around
The King is crying at the sound
The Witch-King makes to frighten me
Fight for my land and I'll fight for thee.
Nice folk story telling. Great performance.

Thank you. I was humming this in the shower and it pretty much fell straight out after I'd dried off (the song nothing else!) I realised I didn't want to right an anti-war song as such, but I think the Pelannor references work well. Some common man who doesn't want to fight but will do for his country and family. Its nice. One of my best story songs I think.
