That's a cool adventure. How much planning before setting off?

Thanks. Quite a lot of planning actually. I know the area but it took a while to pin down an easy, croc-free river up there. Then you got to get permission from various land users - that took months or just a quick phone call the day before. The rest is just the usual logistics: access, food, annotating maps, etc. It may not look it at times, but it was actually a lot easier and more fun than I expected. My mate in the pool toy had a harder time of it, but he saved $1000 on his boat!
