How to Rig a Counter Weight Trap (Fish Trap)

This is a useful and simple snare mechanism. It can be used as the primary trigger for any number of traps, baited, tripwire, or even foot pressure activated.

It is an excellent survival trap design, though the tree spring noose trap uses less rope so may be a better choice in some situations. Only this trap may be used for fish or turtles however.

Ummm......Aren't you ever afraid of bugs biting you and stuff? Or snakes? You can never tell what kinds of poisonous thing could pop up and bite you....

That's probably the only reason why I don't go ahead and trap a ton of fish and stuff......the bees and stuff just scare me where I live >n>

kool trap but if the rock went down with such a force wouldnt it rip the lip of the fish????

@fijiandevil You can use a smaller rock. You could also just bend the higher branch down and use it as a spring rather than using a counterweight.
