"Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" was a tune composed by Gerry Marsden and was the first chart success for Gerry & The Pacemakers in the U.S. peaking at #4 in June of 1964. The song should not be confused with two others of the same title recorded by Louis Jordan and Ray Charles. Gerry & The Pacemakers were managed by Brian Epstein and produced by George Martin, the same two men who handled The Beatles.

  • Love this song.Played at my dad's funeral on a beautifull sunny day, neither i nor my sisters cried even tho we felt like crying! My mam only let a few drops fall (but could you blame her?).Shows what a powerfull song this is! Love ya dad <3 <3 <3 xxx

  • Great music from a never to be seen again era. The 60s were a great time to be a kid where the radio was your window to the world, limited only by your imagination. Takes me back to red line tires, aluminum christmas trees, dodge ball, adjusting the vertical hold on the t.v , space food sticks, creepy crawlers and the never ending search for our Estes model rockets . All tied together with the most diverse music of any era

    Thanks for the post

  • The Photos and The Song are an Excellent Combination, Really Catches The Mood !!

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever.

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO haha agreed! a good one too! XD

  • Such a beautiful song <3

  • A great era, need another British invasion to infuse great music back into the scene

  • @enduroman428 agreed, a great era, hope there will be another "bristish" or american incvasion into today's music scene, I'm doing my part by keeping the blues alive, but we need more songs like Gerry's too!!

  • @enduroman428 yes it was, it was my 11th birthday the night the Beatles first appeared on Ed Sullivan, Feb 9, 1964, the official start of the british invasion. Gerry and his band were one of my favorites, but it was the Animals and Eric burden which hit me the hardest, and started me on the road of playing the blues, a road which i am still travelling, with my harmonicas as my best friends by my side!

  • Why RIP??? Gerry is alive and well and touring UK in 2012!

  • One of my all time favs

  • My 1st time away from home and this song was popular. When homesickness hit I did just the opposite and the sun found me crying.
