This is a top-lit up-draft gasifier wood-gas stove. It was built in about 3 hours from scrap materials around the shop and farm.

  • I think it would be better to have a grille instead of holes in the bottom. The thing that happens is that the ashes pile up and block the main air entry, and therefore the embers shoot less heat, then less pyrolisis, then less second combustion air then less heat, equals lots of smoke.

I added a grille on my design, so the small embers and ashes can fall through it, and the powerful shooting draft is homogenous over time. I use it to heat my tipi. No smoke whatever the quantity of fuel inside.

  • Good video thanks Greg

  • Nice experiments Greg. I'll be interested in chimney and cooktop to be added video. I plan to call you soon by phone to discuss low cost stove design for India as we planned for annual day in March. Looking forward to possibilities .... Tx. Bob C

  • A nice job! Be careful though, as these wood gas stoves are addictive. Enjoy!

  • I Love wood gas stoves.
