@voicefromparis I wouldn't spend more then $3 on a tie, so I could give a crap how it's washed, and I'm sure many people are the same. If it really matters to you, whatever, but the rest of us could give a crap about our ties.

This stuff is really good for tie salesmen. Not only did this expert ruin the tie but she did is so "professionally". Expert Village my foot.

She failed to mention that this method will destroy a silk tie. I've washed polyester ties in a manner similar to this but much more gently (*dish* soap + water + tie in sealed container, shake, soak 24 hrs, rinse repeatedly and gently, air dry, steam wrinkles out), but I wouldn't even think about doing this to a silk tie. Even polyester ties are never quite the same once you wash them like this.
