First, I agree with monkeyman. Even if the Decemberists didn't have great music, their true magic, I believe, rests with their lyrics, especially with the HoL album. It has a depth and beauty that is rarely found among all of the popular transparent nearly meaningless music today.

I love this album, and the Decemberists. And to haters talking about what "indie" is, to me it simply means unsigned to a record label, not really any genre. That's why there's indie rock, indie pop, indie folk, etc. Why can't you take as what it is, good music?

First of all, Ginyustyle, before you start ranting about music, you should probably LEARN something about music first, because you just sound ignorant when you try to convince other people of your knowledge when in reality you have none at all. Dynamics does not JUST refer to the volume of the song, piano, forte, mezzo whatever. Dynamic markings ALSO include tempo as well as the general feel of the music. The Decemberists is a VERY dynamic group, because you can't deny they change the (cont'd)

-- feel of the music frequently as well as the tempo. Although they never quite go down to pianissimo, they do go down to I would say at least piano if not mezzo piano, and all the way up to forte fortissimo. They go from allegro to adagio as well. Before you open your mouth, at least use google or take a music theory class. You're an idiot; refrain from talking ever again. :3
