@Doxygurl That's actually the exact definition of indie: without a huge label, more often than not independent- since indie is short for independent (durr).

I saw Wanting/Repaid on Colbert (previously not having heard enough of the Decemberists to have an opinion). I couldn't even believe what I had just heard. I had to remind my TiVo to be sure it was real. To find out that the whole album is just as good is actually quite upsetting.

I love this album, and the Decemberists. And to haters talking about what "indie" is, to me it simply means unsigned to a record label, not really any genre. That's why there's indie rock, indie pop, indie folk, etc. Why can't you take as what it is, good music?
