Gene Kelly - It's Always Fair Weather - Roller Skates

In one of the least known but deepest looking of Kelly's musicals, he gets one of his most impressive solos. Tap dancing on roller skates to the Comden and Green/Andre Previn tune "I Like Myself", Kelly once again demonstrates to all those planks on TV ballroom dancing shows just what it should look like.
He is subline, elegant, and effortless. When one considers that he was using 50's kit that lacked any of the refinements of modern skates it's all the more impressive, and never less than beautiful and fun to watch.

It's Always Fair Weather is a largely ignored musical, and this is a shame because it is arguably one of the best. It is certainly one of the most powerful, rising as it does above the usual Technicolour froth that makes up the musicals genre, and looking at the real world of people with characters and flaws with a cynical, but always humourous eye.

I heard he was a bit of a perfectionist & a ball buster. But WOW! what results! I mean he is just as fantastic on skates as in shoes! and towards the end he is just right in time with the music as it slows and then speeds up.

He's that guy that every woman wants and every guy wants to be like! Talented, smart and very sexy!
