Vortex Mega-Pan

First attempt at building recovery equipment for getting fine gold from sluice box concentrates. I built this one for under $20 with a handful of cheap plastic house ware.

In operation it's essential to classify your concentrates and remove larger diametre material first but unfortunately in this video I was nearly finished and had just dumped some unclassified material in so it wasn't operating as efficiently as normal. Despite that you can still clearly see the lighter material being transported up the side of the cone by the current.

I couldn't get the video camera to 'see' the fine gold littering the bottom, but if you look carefully you may see some gold about an inch from the black sand concentrate.

Very easy to build and with some practice it's surprisingly effective for recovering fine gold without having to resort to panning.
