In this part, we learn how to create conveyor belt animation using a simple mapping, path constrain, and wire parameters. Basically we wire the map coordinate to a transformation point (like dummy position over a path) to create a moving conveyor.

The second part would be animating some particles (PFlow system) moving on the conveyor using speed by icon, deflector and forces.

(ugh, it seems the HD is not working :( )

  • Thanks, this is really cool ... got mine working in 3dsmax2011 ... problem is I need to get it working as a static mesh in UT2004. It converts ok but in UT all I can see is the top section. Any ideas how I can see the inner side of the belt working too?

    Great work!

  • @Gettingtogrips You mean Unreal Tournament? I'm not sure about mesh/mapping in UT2004, but afaik in Max you could convert/Collapse an object into Editable Mesh or Editable Poly. And still retain the thick "Shelled" belt and it's mapping.

  • Silent Hill 2, yay :).

Thanks for this, hopefully that'll finally help me for my gear belt...

  • @XCrusherX1 yup, good game and very inspiring soundtrack to do some work :D

  • Hi, How did you create the mapping for the conveyor belt? Thanks

  • You could simply use any image editing tools like Photoshop, Gimp, Paint Shop pro, etc. :)

  • I would just like to give you a massive thankyou! I used your tuturial for my conveyor belt, It played a big part in my University essay. Thankyou!

  • I followed the video exactly and I got the same as you did, except mine will scroll extremely slowly. How can I fix it so it will scroll at normal speeds?

  • Ok, thank you!
