@benniquaid inable to cope, and/or maintain or function, and has internal and external issues that my friend is a disease (even if its CREATED by the users own hand, its still a disease nonetheless) anything that is "contracted" (however it may be) that causes a chemical inbalance in the brain, symptoms (a page long) and throws off the body chemistry (in a bad way) IS by all means a disease
@benniquaid you may be right about people "taking responsibility" for initially PUTTING the drug in their body, yes your right - we are adults we are humans we have willpower and the ability to make our own decisions (without any higher power interfereing) but my point ISNT that my point is once an individual (reguardless of race, sex, financial status) becomes addicted to a chemical (after extended/prolonged use) THEN they are addicted, dependant on the drug, both mentally and physically and
@benniquaid also a full-blown recovering addict (both physically and psychologically) I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that addiction (on certain levels) with certain chemicals is WITHOUT a doubt (proven, on paper, statistics are there) a disease (hell dont take it from me even, look up the term for what a disease is) and compare that to addiction (and boom you will see the truth).
@benniquaid diarrhea, inability to hold down any solids (same category as vomiting), muscle spasms, headaches (constant that aspirin or tylenol wont get rid of) depression, denial, resentmant, suicidal ideation, major anxiety, panic attacks - and the list goes on (depending on chemical inbalance, and severity of addiction, and TREATMENT that is required (MAINTENANCE medication) is prescribed for severe addicts (opiates, etc) and as an individual like myself who 1) is in the medical field 2) and
@benniquaid and theres a chemical inbalance and you can no longer function (in society) much less your body on a day to day basis, until the brain is "fed" that chemical once more (and rinse and repeat) and it becomes like a hampster on a hampster wheel that is my friend an addiction/full-blown physical dependancy (and only certain class's of drugs do this to the human body) symptoms range from disorientation, dehydration, inability to sleep (tremors, shakes) coldshakes, coldsweats, vomiting,
@benniquaid its a disease look it up - trust me its defined as a disease your responsible for your own actions ? LOLOL (obviously a sober person with no knowledge of the streets, addiction, relapse, a life of crime, despair, suicide) yes its the PERSONS responsibility for what they put in their body...but once you are physically dependant AND psychologically dependant on a drug, and when you no longer have that drug (over an extended period of time) and you go through actual chemical withdraw
I know no mater what I say U nonAddicts will think the same..
I wish that this thing is so simple, unfortnatly this game is yours from the moment you`v tuched the ball.. even if you stop useing, you r still in strugel with life..only with gods help, you can live with this disease, and feel allright about tourself, everything else is illusion ,which is very poferfull..

It's not a disease. Accept that you're responsible for your own actions.
